Nature and Scope of Service

Share Depository

Investors can deposit their shares through Thailand Securities Depository Company Limited (TSD) member companies (in this case being TISCO Securities Company Limited) for free of charge. Also, individual foreign customers can request us to deliver the shares to the custodian bank.

TSD uses the scripless system to record the number of shares deposited instead of issuing share certificates. The TSD acts as a nominee for shareholders by transferring names of share dopositors to "Thailand Securities Depository Company Limited (for Depositors)".

Clearing & Settlement Procedures

All trades of equity securities are cleared and settled within the third consecutive business day following the trading day (T+3). The clearing and settlement processes are solely managed by Thailand Securities Depository Company Limited (TSD), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).

Securities trading transactions are cleared and settled as following procedures:-

 

On The Buy Side

Trading Session Details
9.30 - T1 Pre-opening I T1 is the random opening time between 09:55 – 10:00 for calculating the opening prices for the morning trading session. Auction method is used to determine opening prices.
T1 - 12.30 Morning Trading Session Morning trading session
12.30 น.-14.00 Intermission Intermission
14.00 - T2 Pre-opening II T2 is the random opening time between 14:25 – 14:30 for calculating the opening prices for the afternoon trading session. Auction method is used to determine opening prices.
T2 - 16.30 Afternoon Trading Session Afternoon trading session Continuous order matching stops at 16:30; however orders may still be sent for queuing until closing auction is performed in T3.
16.30 - T3 Pre-close  
T3 - 17.00 Off-hour Trading and
Market Runoff Period
The trading system allows the following actions to be performed: 
1. Enter a trade report transaction
2. Send a request to bust/cancel the trade report
3. Update certain information in the trade, e.g. owner type (investor type)

  1. Share Transfer Fee

    Investors will not pay any fees if they would like to deposit shares into their accounts. However, if they would like to withdraw shares from their accounts, they are subject to pay a fee of 50 baht per stock.

  2. Share Certificate Issuance Fee

    Share Certificate Issuance Fee Normally, investors can deposit their shares for free of charge through TSD's member companies, which uses the scripless system to record the number of shares deposited instead of issuing share certificates (See details of "Share Depository"). However, if investors would like to get share certificates, they can request TSD's member companies to process this. Investors are subject to pay 100 baht per stock for share certificates. They will get their share certificates within 30 days.

  3. Bank Fees

    Investors are required by banks to pay a fee for some transactions.

    • For check transfers

      Transfers or deposits checks into investors' bank account in Bangkok area are free of charge. However, if the transactions are made to investors' bank account in the provinces or abroad, banks will charge some fees. Brokers will fully pass through these fees to investors.

    • For returned checks

      Investors are required to pay bank fee if their banks do not accept payment upon their checks. Brokers will fully charge the returned check fee to investors.

Besides a 7% value-added tax,individual investors are subject to certain forms of taxation based on the Thai tax laws as follows,

Transfers of share certificates and debenture certificates are subject to stamp duty according to the value of the paid-up shares or the value of the transfer instruments, whichever is greater. The stamp duty rate is one baht for every 1,000 baht or fraction thereof.

The stamp duty, however, is exempt for transfers of registered securities where Thailand Securities Depository Company Limited (TSD) is the registrar, and for transfers of government bonds, state enterprise bonds as well as unit trusts.
